Dog Training Scents - 1-1/4oz Quail Scent
* Safe & Easy to use
* Economical Because it's Concentrated
Once your dog is accustomed to retrieving and fetching dummies, it is time to introduce scent on dummies. To get started, take your dog to a field with low cover, about 6", just enough to hide the dummy when it lands. This is an exercise to teach the dog to hunt by scent, which is a new concept for him. Therefore, proceed as you did when introducing the training dummy. Play with the dog and the scented dummy; throw it nearby for a start, then gradually increase the distance. Find different areas to work in with increasingly higher cover. Be patient and fair. When he is unable to find the dummy as in bound to happen, encourage him by saying "Find the Bird" or "Hunt 'em up" in an excited tone of voice. When you show enthusiasm, your dog will respond with renewed vigor. When you think your dog has mastered the basics, introduce some new, more difficult terrain.
Directions: Apply generously one line of scent the length of the dummy. If water training or using on plastic dummies, frequent re-application may be needed
Caution: Never apply two different scents to the same dummy. This will certainly confuse your dog!
